Job Description

The Coffee House in Lincoln, NE is looking for one or two baristas to join our 13 person-strong team. We are open 6am-3pm daily and we're located on 1324 P Street in Downtown Lincoln. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, responsible, prompt, works well with others, motivated, good with customers, excellent communicator, and someone who's passionate about coffee and their job. We are locally owned and owner-operated since 1987 and encourage all people from all backgrounds to apply. *Barista experience is preferred. Must be 18yrs or older to apply. Diversity on our staff is a plus as we have a very diverse clientele. Our mission is simple. We want to serve the best coffee and food to all people. We provide a safe and friendly atmosphere for our staff to work in, and our clientele to spend time in. Our main concern is that any applicant be accepting of all people regardless of religion, gender, sexual orientation, skin color, or income level. We employ people that want to serve others a great cup of coffee in an environment that is safe and empowering to both the employee and the customer. You will work hard. This job is not easy. Must be available weekends. 20+ hours or more available. Paid training on-site.

We reserve our current staff to pick up available hours, and fill with new staff. Extra hours are generally available if a person is flexible.

Responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold drinks in accordance with customer needs and guidelines
• Be willing to learn about coffee, tea and all preparation methods
• Maintain a clean and tidy work area throughout the day
• Follow health and safety protocols established by LLCHD
• Interact with customers regularly and professionally
• Stock, Clean, and organize barista station as needed
• Cash handling and use of square Register

Qualifications

• Proven working experience as a barista
• Outgoing Personality
• A person that is inclusive, not exclusive
• High integrity with a great attendance record
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively
• Ability to be a team player
• Food Handlers Permit RS (level3) We will pay for this
• A person that wants to learn and grow as a person
