Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Affordable Housing & LIHTC Sector

Location – Greater Los Angeles Area

To be considered for this position, you MUST have recent Affordable Housing / LIHTC experience and be able to commute to the office in the greater LA area multiple times every week.

KM Partners has been retained in the search for a Chief Financial Officer for a long-time client, one of NMHC’s Top 10 nationally ranked largest LIHTC Syndicators in the United States.

KM has partnered with this company for approximately 8 years, placing more than 17 professionals across various business lines, most of whom are still with the company. This organization is professionally led, aligned with the mission of Affordable Housing, and boasts industry-specific expertise with a family-oriented, employee-centric culture. After another record growth year, our client seeks a proven investor relations professional to expand their investor tax credit partnerships and raise LIHTC equity for proprietary and multi-investor funds.

The Opportunity

The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for establishing and executing the company’s financial strategies to meet its goals. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in LIHTC syndication and/or development, with a strong background in finance, accounting, capital markets, and real estate finance. This role involves driving financial performance, ensuring controls, and supporting strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities :

Financial Strategy and Leadership

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's mission and objectives.
• Identify opportunities across business lines to reduce capital costs and enhance investment products and services.
• Provide strategic financial recommendations to the CEO and executive team based on analysis and projections.
• Lead and manage finance and accounting teams to ensure efficient operations and controls.

Capital Markets and Real Estate Finance

• Manage finance needs, including lines of credit and other instruments supporting growth.
• Maintain relationships with investors, lenders, and financial institutions to secure favorable financing and leverage equity commitments.
• Advise on investment fund structuring, acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing transactions.

Financial and Tax Planning and Analysis

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for accurate reporting.
• Conduct financial analysis and modeling for strategic decisions.
• Manage cash flow, liquidity, taxes, and financial risks.
• Coordinate tax planning and reporting with external advisors.

Financial Reporting and Compliance

• Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulations.
• Oversee audits and compliance with financial and tax regulations.
• Implement controls to safeguard assets and liquidity.

Human Resources

• Oversee HR policies, compensation, and benefits programs.
• Develop strategies for attracting and retaining talent.
• Partner with HR to forecast workforce needs and manage budgets.
• Ensure competitive salary structures and participate in succession planning.
