Job Summary:

As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to support and strengthen our information security posture while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic financial environment.

The Cybersecurity Analyst Intern will assist in safeguarding First Harvest Credit Union's digital infrastructure and member data by supporting a variety of cybersecurity and system administration tasks. This role includes monitoring network activity, assisting with patch and vulnerability management, supporting compliance efforts, and contributing to the ongoing enhancement of our cybersecurity practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with monitoring network traffic and system activity for suspicious behavior or security breaches.
  • Support the implementation of patches and updates across systems and software to ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated.
  • Help manage and maintain endpoint protection tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Assist in responding to security incidents and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to regular vulnerability scans and remediation tracking.
  • Participate in audits and compliance activities related to NCUA and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Maintain documentation for processes, procedures, and incident reports.
  • Support system administration tasks such as account provisioning, permission audits, and system backups as needed.
  • Stay informed about current threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Adheres to the FHCU Service Standards as established

Qualification Requirements

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications (Required):

  • Obtained or in pursuit of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Experience & Skills:

  • Familiarity with basic networking concepts, Windows systems, and security principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative when needed.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset toward security.

Preferred (Not Required):

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in IT support, system administration, or cybersecurity (internships or academic labs may be considered).
  • Exposure to SIEM platforms, endpoint detection tools, vulnerability scanning applications, or scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GLBA, PCI-DSS, FFIEC guidelines).

Salary: The base pay for this position is $19/hr. A $.50 premium may be added if the applicant is able to demonstrate a proficiency in both English & Spanish (oral & written).

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands require a person to remain seated for up to eight (8) hours per day and perform repetitive hand movements on a keyboard.
