Job Title: Software Asset Specialist

Location: Cary, NC - Hybrid

Mode : Contract

Project overview: The Software Asset Specialist supports SAM program projects, assists in developing automation processes, collaborates with IT teams, maintains records, tracks and reports software assets, supports asset lifecycle management, provides licensing support, tracks compliance issues, supports stakeholders, fosters continuous improvement, and participates in ongoing training and development.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM)
  • Experience in the development of an ITAM program and the ITAM data & processes
  • Proven experience working on a complex ITAM-related project completed successfully and on time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience creating presentations. Ability to present to large audiences and all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical skills
  • Advanced reporting skills with multiple of the following areas demonstrating evidence of showing the value through performance metrics, financials, capacity, smart goals, and efficiencies/automation.
  • Client and stakeholder relationship management experience and the ability to proactively manage expectations.
  • Experience in training and developing team members and stakeholders on governance processes and skills.
  • Experience with administration, maintenance, compliance, management of ITAM (HAM Pro/SAM Pro) in ServiceNow
  • Experience with Finance, Vendor Management, and Contracts
  • Experience within the Healthcare Industry
  • Experience in a large, complex organization

Job Description:

  • Support engagements and projects related to maturing, enhancing, auditing, and modifying the SAM program by assisting in data collection, documentation, and implementation of process efficiencies.
  • Assist in developing processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage, and reporting of key software data, including SOPs and WIs, by providing input, testing, and feedback.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to prioritize and align with SAM-relevant data source technologies, APIs, and discovery sources by coordinating meetings, gathering requirements, and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Maintain records and databases containing information regarding software assets, licenses, warranties, services, and lease agreements by updating entries, verifying data accuracy, and ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
  • Track and report software assets, analyze data and trends, and create dashboards with KPIs to provide best practices, compliance information, and financial insights for cost optimization by generating reports, identifying discrepancies, and suggesting improvements.
  • Support the lifecycle management of software assets by maintaining up-to-date records, validating discovery data accuracy, and addressing discrepancies through regular audits and data reconciliation.
  • Provide licensing support, assist in designing license metrics, and help administer the SAM tool while maintaining data sources by conducting research, preparing documentation, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Track compliance issues, assist in implementing remediation plans, prepare for software audits, and generate reports on compliance and software usage by monitoring compliance status, coordinating with relevant teams, and compiling audit documentation.
  • Support key stakeholders, including application leadership, security, engineering, enterprise architecture, vendor management, finance, general end users, contracting, and other key stakeholders, aligning to SAM processes, standards, and capabilities by facilitating communication, gathering feedback, and ensuring stakeholder needs are met.
  • Focus on continuous improvement by staying updated with industry trends and best practices and encouraging innovation and efficiency by participating in training sessions, sharing knowledge, and suggesting process enhancements.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to keep skills and knowledge current and explore opportunities for maximizing or exploiting unused or partially used IT assets to improve efficiency by attending workshops, completing certifications, and applying new skills to projects.
