Purpose and Impact:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparation and evaluation of accounting and financial reporting of LSF Health Systems and its sub awards.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and maintain reports to facilitate the financial reporting operations.
- Perform procurement of goods and services per existing policies and procedures including participation in but not limited to preparation of cost analysis and contract review.
- Prepare and record Journal Entries, Accounts Payable and Account Receivable entries as needed on a monthly basis.
- Review and entry of monthly and/or quarterly grant invoices into the MIP system.
- Monthly processing of provider claims invoices.
- Produces, Analyzes and Distributes financial reports to staff and management.
- Assists in preparation of Annual Budget, month-end financials, reconciliations, and year-end close.
- Assist with inventory management including but not limited to tagging, tracking and reconciling semi-annually.
- Assist with preparing files for audits, and reports in response to auditors’ questions.
- Review financial results for completeness by preparing various reports, schedules, and reconciliations.
- Assists with processing of approved travel requests as needed.
Other Functions:
- Understand the nature of the award by reviewing the project description including RFAs/RFPs/project narratives and other supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal & state regulations including donor-specific requirements.
- Provide ad-hoc account analyses, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator, copier, scanner).
- Visual acuity to review and enter data accurately.
- Manual dexterity to handle paperwork, type, and use a ten-key calculator.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry files, boxes, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via electronic communications.
- Mobility to move within an office environment and access file cabinets, office equipment, and meeting spaces.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of responsibility for monitoring, supporting, accounting and reporting for a multiple project, contract and/or grant program operations.
- Previous experience with MIP preferred.
- Non-profit experience preferred.
Skills:
Must be detail oriented, a problem solver with ability to analyze and interpret grant programs and implement them within the organization. The Staff Accountant should be able to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, peers, funders, subcontractors and collaborators. Be knowledgeable of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Must have a collaborative working style that can drive results through influence and communication skills. Should have good writing skills and prefer advanced Excel skills.

Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Reports to the LSF Health Systems Designated Director-Accounting
- Team player with providers and co-workers.
- Accurate, complete and timely submission of all required financial assignments.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of Federal, State and other funding source regulations and requirements for non-profit organizations including the Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200.
